I’m not sure I’m getting the idea of the HR monitor. At the moment I’m like a kid with a new toy which does lots of things but uses it the wrong way. Today at the beach I wanted to see how high I could make it go and then see how quickly I could bring it back down again. This may be called interval something or others (thanks SRG) but I shall call it arrghhghgh ooooohhhh.
It’s probably not doing me much good but I like it and thats what counts to me. I don’t do it by increasing pace but instead by running harder on technical ground. I figure although I am increasing my chances of decking it I’m less likely to pull any muscles. Don’t worry I’ll get bored of looking at the watch again soon.
It’s easy to get it back to normal by fossil hunting too! Found this today in a shale bed.
Although it was wet and cold I loved being out alone on the beach for another 7 miles.
Misty, rainy morning run to the beach as much to just stretch the legs as anything else as I knew the tide was on its way in. Had a good play around the immediate area though, some hill repeats during which I found this new face
Then a hop down to the beach to get some swifter rock running in to satisfy the need to bounce around a bit.
Then off looking for a christmas tree – at the beach ofc. It now seems to be a tradition (if a 2 year thing can be a tradition) to find my tree at the beach. I wasn’t blogging last christmas so I don’t think last years tree made it here, I’ll have to see if I can find a photo.
When I woke this morning theweather was still evil. This week in Wales we’ve had thunder and lightning, hail, tornadoes (yes really) wind and rain ….lots of rain. I was resigned to scratching any hope of a run and then the sun peeped out! A chance. A quick look at Will it rain today? told me I had a window of opportunity. Off I went!
It had indeed been raining
The tide was still quite high as I couldnt pick and choose my time so really I should have gone along the cliffs but I so wanted the beach so I chose a bit of a tricky option along the pebbles.
In fact around 2 miles of pebbles
It did mean I found some cool fossils
Then onto stretch 2 of pebbles and rocks
My legs were really feeling the pebbles by the turn around point at Witches so I decided to really screw them up and run the cliff route back including running every hill – of which there are lots of steep ones. I figured I might not get out much this week so might as well murder the legs today!
I did 7 miles in 90 minutes which I’m very pleased with because the terrain wasn’t exactly conducive to a quick pace. Even the fields were tough as they’re waterlogged. I was also pleased with my overall flow today, even when I was working hard it felt under control and recovery from each climb was quick.
